Tom Popomaronis
Founder & CEO, Phantom IQ
Tom Popomaronis has been a Forbes contributor since 2016 and has published over 1,000 articles across Forbes, CNBC, Inc., Entrepreneur, Harvard Business Review, Fast Company, and other tier-1 publications.
He built Phantom IQ after spending years on both sides of executive thought leadership—as a published author building his own platform, and as a strategist helping other executives do the same. The insight was simple: most executives have valuable perspectives trapped inside them, but lack the systems to extract and distribute that expertise consistently.
Before founding Phantom IQ, Tom held executive positions where he saw firsthand how thought leadership creates asymmetric advantages—easier fundraising, better talent, more board opportunities. He also saw how difficult it is for time-constrained executives to maintain consistent publishing without support infrastructure.

Forbes Contributor Since
"I built Phantom IQ because I saw the same pattern over and over: brilliant executives with valuable insights, but no systematic way to share them. They'd write an article here, a LinkedIn post there, but nothing compounded. The problem wasn't ideas—it was infrastructure."

The Phantom IQ Story
The Problem
Executives know thought leadership matters, but traditional ghostwriting is hit-or-miss. Content doesn't sound like them. Publishing is sporadic. Nothing compounds. The investment doesn't pay off.
The Insight
The best content comes from extracting what executives already know, not inventing from scratch. What's needed is a system: capture voice once, improve over time, publish consistently, compound authority.
The Solution
Phantom IQ combines structured voice extraction, AI-assisted synthesis, human editorial quality, and tier-1 publication relationships. Your ideas, systematically captured and distributed.

Our Principles
What We Stand For
The beliefs that guide how we work with executives and build their authority.
Authenticity Over Invention
We don't invent ideas for executives. We extract their actual thinking through structured conversations. Every piece of content begins with what you genuinely believe, not what we think sounds good. This is the fundamental difference between thought leadership and content marketing.
Quality Over Quantity
One tier-1 article creates more authority than fifty blog posts. We prioritize credibility density—the authority signal per piece of content—rather than publishing frequency. Executives who want daily posts should look elsewhere. Those who want lasting impact choose us.
Systems Over Services
We don't just write content—we build infrastructure. Your Content OS stores voice patterns, themes, and positions. Each content cycle improves the system's understanding of you. This is why month 12 produces better content than month 1, and why the value compounds over time.
Earned Over Paid
We focus exclusively on earned media—content accepted by editorial teams based on merit. Paid placements (sponsored content, advertorials) undermine credibility. When a tier-1 outlet publishes your article, readers know an editor thought it was worth their audience's attention.
Respect for Time
Executives have minutes, not hours, for content. We designed everything around minimal time burden: 45-minute monthly interviews, quick approval cycles, questions sent in advance. If an engagement takes more than 2 hours monthly, we've failed at our job.
Long-Term Thinking
Authority compounds, but only with consistency. We don't optimize for quick wins—we build foundations that strengthen over years. The executives who benefit most from Phantom IQ are those committed to systematic authority-building, not those seeking viral moments.
Our Approach
The Phantom IQ Methodology
A systematic approach to building executive authority through content.
Executive IQ Assessment
We begin with a comprehensive assessment that maps your intellectual landscape: what you know, what you believe, where your expertise is strongest, and where your opinions diverge from consensus. This creates the foundation for all future content.
Content OS Initialization
Your voice patterns, rhetorical preferences, opinion boundaries, and key themes are encoded into our Content Operating System. This becomes the memory bank that ensures consistency across all content and improves with each interaction.
Strategic Distribution Mapping
We identify 16 publication targets aligned with your expertise and audience. This isn't about chasing the biggest names—it's about finding outlets where your insights will resonate and where publication builds the specific credibility you need.
Continuous Content Cycles
Each month follows a proven rhythm: structured interview, AI-assisted synthesis, human editorial refinement, your approval, and distribution. The system improves with each cycle as the Content OS learns more about your voice and thinking.
The Stakes
Why Executive Authority Matters Now
The landscape has changed. Here's why systematic thought leadership is no longer optional for serious executives.
B2B Buyers Research Executives
67% of B2B buyers research executive leadership before meetings. They're googling your name, reading your LinkedIn, looking for published content. Executives without visible thought leadership create friction in their own sales process.
AI Search Changes Everything
ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Google AI Overviews are becoming how people find expertise. If your perspectives aren't in sources AI trusts, you don't exist in AI-assisted discovery. Answer Engine Optimization is the new SEO.
Authority Attracts Opportunity
Speaking invitations, board positions, advisory roles, partnership proposals, and acquisition interest flow toward visible leaders. The executives who publish in tier-1 outlets don't chase opportunities—opportunities find them.
Talent Wants Recognized Leaders
Top performers choose to work for leaders they respect and admire. Published thought leadership signals vision, expertise, and market positioning. Companies with visible executives recruit better talent at lower cost.
Credibility Compounds
Unlike advertising that stops when you stop paying, published content creates permanent assets. A tier-1 article from 2024 will still rank in 2029. Each publication reinforces the others. Authority accumulates—but only with consistency.
The Expertise Gap
Most executives have 20+ years of insight trapped in their heads. They know things the market needs to hear. The gap between expertise and visibility represents massive untapped potential for authority, influence, and business impact.
